Environmental Policy

Philosophy was born out of a heartfelt desire unlock the power of business to create positive and sustainable change. Acting as partners and trusted advisors, we enable our clients to take effective action on the most material issues affecting people, profit and planet. Our thoughtful businesses approach is designed to help businesses navigate a complex and ever-shifting sustainability landscape with the confidence that comes from integrity and a clearly defined business philosophy.

Our business activities are delivered from both our home offices as well as at our clients’ sites. This policy statement applies to our offices, employees, and associates.

We recognise that our business activities have both direct and indirect impacts on the environment. We are committed to minimising those impacts, which are primarily related to:

  • Business travel
  • Procurement
  • Office activities, including energy and water use, office equipment and consumables, and the generation of office waste

Our goals:

As a Certified B Corp business, and a company which works with other businesses to help them understand what social and environmental good governance looks like, it is imperative that Philosophy holds itself to high standards of environmental stewardship. As such as have set out the following goals for the next five years:

  • We will work towards a Net Zero by 2030 target, which we have set in line with SME Climate Hub guidelines
  • We will strive to reducing our own energy consumption at source
  • We will eliminate all business flying and always applying our Green Travel hierarchy (see below)
  • We may choose to offset our unavoidable carbon emissions through Verified Gold Standard offsets
  • We will comply with all applicable local, regional and national environmental legislation
  • We will continuously assess and find opportunities to improve and reduce our environmental impact

We are committed to identifying and complying with all legal and other relevant requirements relating to the environmental impacts of our operations, and to the prevention of pollution through the adoption of appropriate controls.

In service of those goals, will apply the following procedures and processes:

  • Monitor and minimise the carbon and other emissions related to business travel and procurement (our most material impacts).
  • Minimise waste through careful and efficient use of all materials and energy.
  • Consider the environmental impacts and risks associated with advice provided to our clients, and work in partnership to promote reduced impacts where possible.
  • Favour the use of suppliers who can demonstrate environmentally sound business practices, and products from local suppliers, derived from sustainable resources.
  • Embed environmental and ethical considerations into the day to day operation of the business, including investment decisions where appropriate.
  • Educate employees and associates in good environmental practice.

This policy will be reviewed annually.
